Islamabad(Khyber Point)Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, was rushed to a hospital in Islamabad after suffering a heart attack, according to medical and media reports.
Sources at the Al-Shifa International Hospital confirmed that Abbasi experienced severe chest pain late Friday night and was immediately brought in for emergency treatment. Upon examination, doctors diagnosed him with a cardiac arrest and discovered that two of his coronary arteries were blocked.
A medical team promptly performed an angioplasty procedure and inserted two stents to restore normal blood flow. Hospital authorities later confirmed that the former premier’s condition is now stable and he is out of danger.
Abbasi, who served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2017 to 2018, remains under observation at Al-Shifa Hospital, where doctors have advised complete rest and continued monitoring for the next several days.
Family members and close political associates have been visiting him, expressing relief that his condition has improved following timely medical intervention. Political leaders from across party lines have also extended good wishes for his swift recovery.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has been a key figure in Pakistan’s political landscape for decades. He has previously served as Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources and is known for his calm demeanor and technocratic approach to governance.
Doctors have advised him to avoid stress and resume political activities only after full recovery. The hospital administration has assured that all necessary facilities are being provided to ensure his health stabilizes completely.
