PESHAWAR(Khyber Point) A joyous wedding celebration in the Machni Gate area of Peshawar turned into a scene of mourning when unidentified gunmen opened fire, killing a 12-year-old boy and injuring another guest on Thursday night.

According to police reports, the incident occurred in the Shagai Hindkyan locality, where family members and guests had gathered to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Waqar, scheduled for November 2. The complainant, Jehanzeb, stated in his report that while he and others were standing outside the house, two armed men arrived and began indiscriminate firing without any warning.

The bullets struck Fawad, a 12-year-old guest, who died on the spot, while another guest who had traveled from Lahore sustained injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The child’s death turned the wedding home into a house of grief, with mourning replacing the sounds of celebration.

Following the incident, police registered a case against two suspects identified as Malook alias Malookay and Sher Alam, both residents of Shagai Hindkyan. The accused fled the scene after the shooting, and police have launched search operations to apprehend them.

Officials confirmed that the motive behind the attack remains unclear, though initial investigations suggest a possible personal enmity. Law enforcement authorities have vowed to bring the culprits to justice, while additional patrols have been deployed in the area to prevent further violence.

The tragic event has sparked outrage among local residents, who called on authorities to strengthen security and curb the rising trend of celebratory or revenge-related shootings during social gatherings.
