Pakistan’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has refused to sign the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) new central contract, expressing dissatisfaction over his placement and demanding clarity on his exclusion from the national T20 squad.

According to reliable sources, the PCB recently offered central contracts to 30 national cricketers for the upcoming season. However, the new structure did not include any player in the prestigious “A” category — a decision that has reportedly caused frustration among several senior players. Rizwan, who was listed in the “B” category along with nine other players, declined to sign the contract, while all others reportedly accepted the terms.

Insiders reveal that Rizwan has raised concerns regarding the board’s decision-making process, particularly about his sudden omission from the T20 lineup despite consistent performances and leadership qualities. He is said to have formally asked the PCB for an explanation, questioning the rationale behind his demotion and the lack of transparency in team selections.

Sources close to the PCB suggest that the board is unlikely to entertain Rizwan’s demands. “The PCB is firm on its stance and does not intend to revise the central contract list or terms for any player,” a senior official told media outlets on condition of anonymity.

This standoff comes at a time when Pakistan cricket is under scrutiny for inconsistent performances and administrative controversies. If unresolved, Rizwan’s refusal could widen the rift between players and the cricket board, potentially impacting team morale ahead of upcoming international fixtures.

The PCB has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
