ICC Fines Suryakumar Yadav and Haris Rauf Warns Farhan

Dubai( Khyber Point) The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed fines on India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf, while issuing a formal warning to Pakistani batsman Sahibzada Farhan following disciplinary hearings.

According to Indian media reports, both Suryakumar and Rauf were fined 30 percent of their match fees. The penalties were handed down after complaints regarding inappropriate conduct during the recent Pakistan–India clash.

The ICC hearing, presided over by match referee Richie Richardson, examined allegations of political signaling and provocative celebrations. Sources said Sahibzada Farhan was cautioned but escaped financial penalties, with the referee noting his explanation that “Pathans celebrate in this manner” and that his actions were not politically motivated.

However, Haris Rauf was penalized despite denying any political intent. When questioned about his “six-zero” gesture, Rauf reportedly responded by asking the referee to explain its meaning instead. Richardson rejected his defense, upholding the charge and fine.

Meanwhile, the ICC also sanctioned Suryakumar Yadav over a controversial political remark, following a complaint filed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The Indian captain was found guilty of breaching the ICC’s code of conduct and fined 30 percent of his match fee.

Friday’s session also addressed a complaint lodged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) against Rauf and Farhan, underscoring the heated tensions between the rival boards.

The ICC’s rulings highlight its stance on curbing political messaging and unsporting behavior on the field, as cricket’s governing body seeks to maintain neutrality and discipline in high-profile tournaments.
