Islamabad( KhbyerPoint) A Pakistani crew of 24, including the ship’s captain, has been left stranded after a maritime vessel came under attack near Yemen, prompting urgent appeals for government intervention to ensure their safe return.
According to diplomatic sources, no casualties among the Pakistani crew have been reported so far. The targeted vessel had departed from Iran’s Bandar Abbas port carrying a shipment of LNG bound for Yemen. Officials confirmed that the ship is currently in an area not controlled by Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
Reports reveal that the Pakistani crew had already issued a video message 10 days earlier, detailing how their ship was hit by a drone strike at a Yemeni port. In the footage, the crew appealed to Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Director General of Ports for immediate assistance, warning that Houthi rebels were preventing them from leaving the vessel.
The crew further suggested that if they were permitted to sail the ship to Djibouti, they could reach a safe location. Their plea remains unchanged, as they continue to urge the Pakistani government for swift action to secure their release.
Officials in Islamabad stated that efforts are underway to ensure the crew’s safety and eventual repatriation. The incident highlights the growing risks faced by international shipping in conflict zones, particularly in waters off Yemen where Houthi attacks on commercial vessels have escalated in recent years.
For the families of those on board, the wait grows increasingly tense as hopes rest on diplomatic channels and international cooperation to resolve the crisis without further escalation.
