Islamabad( Khyber Point) The high-profile murder case of 16-year-old TikToker Sana Yusuf has taken a major turn as the Islamabad District Court has fixed a date to formally frame charges against the accused, Umar Hayat.

The hearing was conducted by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka. During the proceedings, the accused was presented in court where the judge ordered that formal charges would be filed against him on September 20. Copies of the challan were also handed over to the defense in preparation for the indictment.

According to police records, a murder case had been registered against Hayat at the Sumbal police station. Investigators revealed earlier that the accused had confessed to the killing, admitting that he entered Sana Yusuf’s home and shot her dead. The shocking murder sparked outrage on social media, with calls for swift justice and stronger protection for young online content creators.

The prosecution maintains that Sana’s death was a premeditated act of violence, while the defense has yet to formally present its arguments. Legal experts suggest the trial could set an important precedent, given the public attention the case has attracted and the widespread concerns about violence against women and minors in Pakistan.

The court has now fixed September 20 as the date when formal charges will be framed, marking a critical stage in the trial. The victim’s family and rights activists have expressed hope that the judicial process will move swiftly to deliver justice.

As the indictment approaches, the case continues to remain under close watch by media and civil society, underscoring both the dangers faced by young digital influencers and the challenges for Pakistan’s justice system in addressing gender-based violence.
