Lakki Marwat ( Khyber Point) A late-night gun attack at a petrol pump on Mianwali Road in Wanda Painda Khan left one man dead, police confirmed on Friday.

According to initial reports, unidentified armed assailants exchanged fire with the watchman stationed at the “Go Petrol Pump.” The clash turned deadly when the watchman, identified as Hayatullah, was fatally struck during the exchange.

Police sources said local residents alerted authorities after hearing heavy gunfire in the area. A police team rushed to the scene but the attackers had already fled under the cover of darkness. Officials have cordoned off the site and collected forensic evidence while launching a manhunt to trace the culprits.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and investigators are considering multiple angles including attempted robbery, targeted killing, or militant activity. Authorities have assured that those responsible will be brought to justice.

The incident has spread panic among locals, as residents say this is not the first time violent attacks have occurred in the region. Security has been tightened along Mianwali Road and at fuel stations across Lakki Marwat, with police advising business owners to adopt enhanced safety measures.

Community leaders have condemned the attack and called on the provincial government to ensure protection for workers and businesses, particularly in areas vulnerable to armed assaults.

Police stated that the body of the slain watchman has been shifted to a nearby hospital for postmortem examination. A formal case has been registered against unknown assailants, and an intensive search operation is underway.

The tragic incident underscores the persistent security challenges in Lakki Marwat, a district that has witnessed sporadic acts of violence in recent years.
