Islamabad,( Khyber Point)The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoKP), in collaboration with the SEED (Sustainable Energy & Economic Development) programme, hosted a landmark investor outreach event in Islamabad on August 28th, showcasing the province’s forest carbon market potential and inviting private sector partners to participate in sustainable forestry initiatives.
Held at the Marriott Hotel, the event attracted significant interest from investors, development partners, and the business community, highlighting KP’s leadership in climate action through large-scale forestation efforts and carbon sequestration opportunities.
The Secretary Climate Change, Forestry, Environment & Wildlife (CCFE&W), together with senior officials from the KP Forest Department, led the session and underscored the province’s pioneering role in leveraging forest resources for climate and economic benefits. The Secretary highlighted KP’s achievements in expanding forest cover through initiatives such as the Billion Tree and Ten Billion Tree Tsunami projects and unveiled three investment-ready forest carbon projects. He emphasized that these projects will create green jobs, restore degraded landscapes, strengthen climate resilience, and uplift communities whose livelihoods are tied to forests.
Speaking at the event, a representative of the SEED programme, reaffirmed SEED’s support to GoKP in charting a sustainable path to the global carbon market. He reassured SEED’s commitment to supporting initiatives that drive inclusive economic growth.
The event concluded with robust Q&A sessions, where investors expressed enthusiasm for KP’s initiatives. The KP government reiterated its commitment to fostering an investor-friendly environment and leveraging partnerships to unlock the province’s full economic potential.
