ANKARA(Khyber Point) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again condemned Israel, accusing it of carrying out genocide against Palestinians despite an existing truce agreement. Speaking during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ankara, Erdogan said the recent Israeli assaults in Gaza are “a clear example of genocide.”
Erdogan criticized Germany and other Western nations for their silence over the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza. “Is Germany blind to the genocide in Gaza? Can they not see what Israel is doing to the Palestinian people?” he asked sharply, adding that the world’s inaction is enabling further atrocities.
The Turkish president stressed that while Israel possesses nuclear weapons, Hamas has none, highlighting the imbalance of power and the dire humanitarian consequences of continued Israeli attacks. He called the ongoing violations of the ceasefire “a grave breach of international law and human rights.”
Erdogan urged Germany, Türkiye, and the broader international community to take immediate and concrete steps to halt the killings, famine, and devastation in Gaza. “It is no longer enough to issue statements; action is required to protect innocent lives,” he said.
He further warned that continued global indifference could destabilize the entire Middle East, adding that Türkiye remains committed to supporting peace efforts and providing humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian population.
The remarks come amid growing international criticism of Israel’s military operations in Gaza, which have killed thousands of civilians and worsened the humanitarian crisis despite repeated calls for restraint and adherence to ceasefire terms.
