Karachi:A fiery fashion feud has taken over social media as designer Faiza Saqlain accused actress Maya Ali’s fashion label, Maya Pret, of copying her designs.
According to Galaxy Lollywood, Faiza claimed that Maya Pret had replicated her creations, from dress concepts to shoot styling.
The entertainment portal added that Faiza expressed her disappointment, saying it’s hurtful to see years of hard work being replicated especially when it came from someone who was once her friend.
An entertainment portal unfolded the story on Instagram, sparking a social media buzz that brought both Maya Ali and Faiza Saqlain into the spotlight.
The fashion face-off immediately divided social media. While some users stood by Faiza, many defended Maya, calling the entire accusation exaggerated and unnecessary.
One user wrote, “Is it only me who can’t see a single resemblance in all three outfits? They’re so different!” Another commented, “These designs are so common in every festive wear brand of Pakistan. What is Faiza even talking about? These styles have been in the market for ages.”
Others reminded Faiza of Maya’s past support, pointing out that the actress had been instrumental in promoting her brand. “Can Faiza also talk about how Maya Ali supported her brand for so long and was the muse for so many of her shoots? Maya’s constant endorsement helped Faiza’s brand grow,” a fan remarked.
Many echoed similar sentiments, saying, “There isn’t anything copied here. Gradient sarees have been in for so long!” and “Best friend ne dhokaa de diya!”
Some even turned the tables on Faiza, accusing her of drawing inspiration from other designers. One user asked, “And what about Faiza’s tie and dye sarees? Did she mention that she was inspired by Manish Malhotra?”
Another fan fired back, “She’s just jealous. We only know Faiza because Maya wore her brand so often. Now that Maya Pret is successful, she can’t handle it. These are traditional cuts and designs … nothing new or original.”
But not everyone took Maya’s side. A few agreed with Faiza, saying, “She’s actually right… Maya Pret is heavily inspired by Faiza Saqlain.”
The fiery online debate has clearly split fans into two camps.
