ISLAMABAD ( Khyber Point)The District and Sessions Court Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Amin Gandapur, ordering authorities to arrest and present him before the court in a case pertaining to the recovery of illegal arms and liquor.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti presided over the hearing of the long-pending case, in which neither the accused nor his counsel, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hasan, appeared before the court despite repeated notices.
Expressing displeasure over the continued absence of the accused, the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants and directed law enforcement agencies to produce Gandapur at the next hearing scheduled for November 11.
According to court documents, the case against Ali Amin Gandapur was registered at Bharakahu Police Station in Islamabad, where he was accused of possessing illegal weapons and alcohol.
Legal experts note that Gandapur has been avoiding court appearances for months despite multiple summonses, prompting the judiciary to take strict action. The prosecution informed the court that all legal procedures for notifying the accused had been duly followed.
Meanwhile, political circles have reacted strongly to the court’s decision, with PTI sources claiming the move is part of a “politically motivated campaign” against party leaders. However, legal analysts emphasize that the order was issued in accordance with procedural law following persistent non-compliance.
The court has adjourned the case until November 11, directing authorities to ensure Gandapur’s presence at the next hearing.
