Lahore/Karachi: Actress Maimoona Qudoos has made sensational revelations about the darker side of Pakistan’s showbiz industry, claiming that homosexuality, exploitation, and open secret parties are rampant. Speaking in a recent podcast, she alleged that Lahore is the hub where such trends have been nurtured and normalized.

According to Qudoos, while Karachi also has its share of controversies, the situation in Lahore is more blatant. “In Lahore, parties are held openly, and the culture of indecency is stronger,” she said, adding that the city’s entertainment circles are plagued with arrogance and false pretenses. “People there don’t even have millions in their pockets, yet they talk like billionaires,” she remarked.

Contrasting Lahore with Karachi, the actress described Karachi’s industry as more professional but transactional to the point of being inhumane. “Here, everything is based on deals. Even relationships are defined by what benefits they bring,” she claimed. According to her, women are often asked what they can offer in exchange for being accepted as someone’s girlfriend.

The actress also acknowledged the prevalence of the casting couch in the industry. She emphasized that it is not confined to women alone—men, too, are subjected to harassment and exploitation. “It’s a misconception that only women suffer; men are equally vulnerable in this industry,” Qudoos noted.

Her candid remarks shed light on longstanding allegations surrounding the Pakistani entertainment world, where exploitation and unprofessionalism have often been whispered about but rarely addressed publicly. While her statements are likely to spark debate and controversy, they also raise questions about the urgent need for reforms, accountability, and protective mechanisms for artists, regardless of gender.
