Mumbai( Khyber Point) Bollywood actress Bhagyashree, who rose to overnight stardom with her debut film Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), has revealed that Salman Khan was the only person from her side present at her wedding to actor Himalaya Dassani.
In a recent interview, Bhagyashree recalled how Salman stood by her during the most important moment of her life when her own family was absent. “On the sets of Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman always took great care of me. When I decided to marry Himalaya, my parents opposed it, and I had no one from my side at the wedding. But Salman was there throughout — he was the last person to leave the ceremony,” she said.
Bhagyashree explained that her marriage faced resistance from her family, leading her and Himalaya to tie the knot quietly in a private ceremony. Despite the secrecy and controversy, Salman Khan supported her like family. “He was mischievous, yet incredibly caring. His passion for work reminded me of legends like Rajesh Khanna — a kind of madness that today’s generation rarely experiences,” she added.
The actress also acknowledged that fans and the industry criticized her husband after she quit films early in her career to focus on marriage and family. Today, the couple’s children, Abhimanyu Dassani and Avantika Dassani, have both stepped into acting, continuing the family’s connection to Bollywood.
Bhagyashree is now preparing for a comeback with director Riteish Deshmukh’s historical film Raja Shivaji, slated for release on May 1, 2026. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia Deshmukh, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Fardeen Khan.
Her revelation has added another nostalgic chapter to Bollywood’s golden memories, reminding fans of her enduring bond with Salman Khan, the co-star who stood by her when no one else did.
