Peshawar( Khyber point) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched extensive relief operations to support the victims of the devastating earthquake that recently struck Afghanistan. Provincial Advisor on Information, Barrister Dr. Saif, emphasized that the people of Afghanistan are not alone in this time of crisis, assuring that KP stands firmly beside its Afghan brothers.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Barrister Saif urged the federal government to also step forward and extend its support to Afghanistan. “Just as KP is assisting our Afghan brothers, the federal government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should follow suit, as Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has done,” he remarked.
He highlighted Afghanistan’s economic fragility and stressed the moral, religious, and humanitarian duty of Pakistan, as well as the international community, to assist Afghanistan during this tragic period. “Being neighbors and brothers in faith, we must stand united with the Afghan people. I appeal to Pakistan and the entire world to extend their full support to the earthquake victims,” he said.
Barrister Saif confirmed that on the directives of the Chief Minister, KP has already dispatched 35 trucks carrying essential relief goods to Afghanistan. He further announced that more aid consignments will follow in the coming days. In addition, Afghan victims injured in the disaster will be treated free of cost in hospitals across Peshawar and other districts of the province.
The provincial advisor extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the earthquake and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He reiterated KP’s commitment to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Afghanistan, reinforcing the province’s solidarity with its neighbor in the face of tragedy.
