Peshawar( Khyber point )Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have launched a crackdown on TikTokers accused of spreading vulgarity, abusive language, and immoral content on social media. As part of the operation, police in Mardan have registered cases against six TikTok users, with one individual already placed under arrest.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Zahoor Afridi, the arrested TikToker was allegedly involved in creating and sharing content that violated social ethics and contributed to moral degradation in society. Police officials confirmed that raids are continuing across the region to apprehend the remaining suspects linked to the case.
DPO Afridi stressed that social media platforms, while powerful tools for communication and creativity, are increasingly being misused by the younger generation. He noted that instead of leveraging these platforms for positive purposes, some individuals are promoting indecent behavior, which in turn fuels negative social trends.
The crackdown is part of a broader strategy by KP police to curb the misuse of digital platforms and reinforce social discipline. Authorities warned that obscene language, abusive exchanges, and vulgar online content will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Those found guilty of such violations will face strict legal consequences under existing cybercrime and criminal laws.
This development has triggered debate among citizens and digital rights activists. Supporters argue that firm action is necessary to protect cultural values and prevent the erosion of moral standards. Critics, however, caution that such crackdowns should not infringe upon freedom of expression or target individuals unfairly.
For now, the KP police remain resolute, vowing to continue operations until the misuse of social media platforms is contained and accountability ensured.
