KARACHI(khyber Point) Renowned Pakistani actress Aamina Sheikh has opened up about her decision to step away from the entertainment industry and move abroad following her divorce from actor Mohib Mirza in 2019. Speaking candidly in a recent YouTube interview, the Maat and Daam star revealed that the move was essential for her emotional and mental recovery.
Aamina, who earned critical acclaim for her performances in hit dramas such as Maat, Pakiza, Daam, Uraan, and Main Abdul Qadir Hoon, said that after her marriage ended and the birth of her daughter, she found herself surrounded by immense emotional pressure and negativity. “There was too much noise around me — too many opinions, judgments, and expectations. I needed space to breathe and heal,” she said.
The actress revealed that in order to rebuild her life in a healthier environment, she decided to relocate to the United States, where her family had already settled. “My family became my strongest support system during that time. I needed to be in a place where I could focus on my daughter and rediscover myself,” Aamina shared.
During the seven years she spent away from the media spotlight, Aamina focused on personal growth, motherhood, and inner peace. She described this period as one of “healing, learning, and renewal,” adding that it helped her redefine her priorities and make more mindful choices for the future.
The actress also spoke about her second marriage, revealing that she met her current husband, Umar, during her stay in Dubai. Their union, she said, was built on mutual respect and family consent. “It was a very calm and thoughtful decision — one that came after years of understanding what truly matters in life,” she noted.
Addressing her decision to keep her personal life private, Aamina emphasized that she deliberately avoids sharing details about her family on social media. “I want to protect my daughter and my loved ones from unnecessary public scrutiny. Privacy brings peace, and that’s what I value most now,” she explained.
It is worth mentioning that Aamina Sheikh and Mohib Mirza’s marriage ended in divorce in 2019. Earlier this year, Mohib Mirza tied the knot with fellow actress Sanam Saeed, while Aamina has also remarried and has a son from her second marriage.
