Islamabad( Khyber Point)Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed from Islamabad for Riyadh on Tuesday, embarking on an official visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif is accompanied by a high-level delegation including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Climate Minister Musadik Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
During his visit, the prime minister is scheduled to hold a key meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where the two leaders will review the full spectrum of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The discussions will encompass trade, investment, energy cooperation, and defense partnerships.
Both sides are also expected to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual concern. Officials noted that the visit underscores the depth of the strategic relationship between Islamabad and Riyadh, with expectations of new agreements in economic and development cooperation.
Saudi Arabia has been one of Pakistan’s closest allies, providing financial support and investment commitments in times of economic difficulty. Prime Minister Shehbaz’s visit comes at a crucial time as Pakistan looks to strengthen its foreign partnerships to stabilize its economy and enhance regional security cooperation.
The trip is also viewed as an opportunity to reinforce people-to-people ties, given the presence of a large Pakistani expatriate community in Saudi Arabia. The prime minister’s meetings are expected to highlight Pakistan’s role as a reliable partner in the Gulf region while reaffirming its support for Saudi-led initiatives in regional peace and economic development.
